PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Staffing shortages are causing airline delays for hundreds of travelers at Sky Harbor International Airport on Wednesday afternoon.

As of 2:30 p.m., over 220 flights are delayed and nearly 50 are canceled, according to the airport’s website.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said the average delay is nearly over three hours due to staffing. At this time, most delays are affecting Southwest Airlines.

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy and FAA administrator Bryan Bedford announced flight restrictions will begin on Friday. They include a 10% reduction in air traffic for 40 “high-volume traffic markets.”

The exact list of airports affected by the restrictions has not yet been released.
