A 57-year-old science teacher in Indiana has been arrested for allegedly battering one of her students for spilling water on his desk and told another she wished she could shoot him in the head.
Cherie Hofmann was taken into custody last month and charged with one count of battery resulting in bodily injury and two counts of intimidation in retaliation for a prior lawful act, court records show.
Police said the alleged "altercation between a teacher and student" took place Oct. 22 at Corydon Central High School, which is about 125 miles south of Indianapolis.
In a statement , the district said that it was following standard protocol by placing the teacher involved in the alleged incident on leave until a conclusion in the investigation is reached.
