KALAMAZOO, MI –– The boys soccer talent in Southwest Michigan put on a show in 2025.
And they were awarded appropriately.
The Michigan High School Soccer Coaches Association released its boys all-state teams for all divisions this week, and the Kalamazoo-area was well represented with 34 honorees for the 2025 season.
Portage Central 6-foot-8 goalkeeper Gunnar Thorhallsson stole the show –– the senior earned the Mr. Soccer award after leading the Mustangs to their first-ever state championship this past week.
Thorhallsson became the first goalkeeper to ever earn the MHSSCA’s highest honor.
He was also one of three Mustangs –– including Max Bailey and Marshall Neumann –– to land on the MHSSCA’s Dream Team for 2025. In total, six area players earned first team all-state honors, with Sout
