BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Mayor Sid Edwards presented his budget to the Metro Council on Tuesday, outlining plans to cut more than 400 positions within city-parish government.

Edwards said the $1.1 billion budget had to be reduced because of the incorporation of the City of St. George. He explained it’s a revenue loss of $50 million over two years.

He said more than 400 positions will have to be cut, with half of them already unfilled. Some of the job cuts include positions in the District Attorney’s office.
