On Wednesday at 1:19 p.m. an updated severe thunderstorm warning was issued by the National Weather Service in effect until 1:30 p.m. for Clatsop and Tillamook counties.
Residents should be prepared for wind gusts of up to 70 mph.
"At 1:19 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located 7 miles northwest of Elsie, or 9 miles west of Jewell, moving northeast at 55 mph," states the weather service. "Expect considerable tree damage. Damage is possible to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings."
Locations impacted by the warning include Manzanita, Jewell, Elsie, Wheeler, Nehalem, Hamlet, Mohler, Klaskanine Summit, Necanicum, Foss, Saddle Mountain and Salmonberry. This includes the following highways: U.S. Highway 26 west of Portland between mile markers 1 and 21. U.S. Highway 101 between mile marker
