OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Brian Kruse, election commissioner for Douglas County, is leaving the post after serving there for a decade.

A news release from his office on Wednesday said Kruse plans to head to work for Forest Lawn Cemetery & Funeral Home as its general manager, returning to an industry he worked in before becoming the county election commissioner .

“I appreciate the trust that Governors Ricketts and Pillen have placed in me leading the Douglas County Election Commission. It has been an honor and privilege for the last decade to serve the voters of Douglas County in administering fair, accurate, secure, and impartial elections.”

His resignation will be effective Jan. 9, 2026.
