Rutland Library abandons Bloomer Building move

The Rutland Free Library has abandoned a proposed move to the Asa Bloomer Building, Library Director Randal Smathers said Tuesday.

“It wasn’t a good fit,” Smathers said. “That’s really the long and short of it. ... Our search for a viable, long-term home continues. ... If anybody has a 25,000-square-foot building they’d like to give us, no charge, we’d love to have that conversation.”
