From his first game with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats back in June — and then so many times throughout the season — Kenny Lawler looked like an all star.
On Wednesday, that was made official.
The receiver was one of five Ticats named to the CFL all-star team. He joins guard Brandon Revenberg, defensive end Julian Howsare, cornerback Jamal Peters and safety Stavros Katsantonis.
Lawler, who was the exclamation point on late general manager Ted Goveia’s free-agent class in the off-season and quickly became quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell’s favourite target, posted career highs in receiving yards (1,443 compared to his previous best of 1,014), receptions (86 compared to a previous best of 64) and touchdown catches (14 compared to a previous best of six).
