Firefighters tackling a blaze in a flat in a high-rise building in Huyton have been attacked with fireworks, Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service (MFRS) said.
Crews were alerted to the fire on Primrose Drive at 6.57pm and arrived at the scene seven minutes later, at 7.04pm. Five fire engines and an aerial appliance were sent to tackle the blaze.
Firefighters quickly gained entry to the third-floor flat and extinguished the fire using a main jet and a hose reel jet, MFRS said.
During the incident, fire crews were "targeted and attacked with fireworks", the service said. A teenager at the scene was injured by a firework and is being treated by the North West Ambulance Service.
