The college cross country season is entering its homestretch, which gives runners from Clark County a chance to compete at conference championship meets.
Three true freshmen earned top-50 finishes at the West Coast Conference championships Saturday in Spokane Valley.
In the men’s race, Jacob McManus placed 42nd for Santa Clara. The Columbia River High School graduate covered 8,000 meters in 25 minutes, 11.3 seconds and was the final scoring runner for the sixth-place Broncos.
Skyview High School grad Daphne Evenson placed 44th in the women’s race for first-place Washington State. She covered 6,000 meters in 22:11.81.
Ridgefield High School grad Danica Allen finished 49th in 22:25.56. She was the fifth scoring runner for University of Portland, which finished fifth out of 12 teams.
