There is a refrigerator at the entrance of Forge Baking Co. in Somerville, Massachusetts, that gets filled with homemade meals made by volunteers for strangers they may never meet.

"I hope they like the food, I hope they enjoy it," said Claire Hughes, who has volunteered with Community Cooks for six years.

Hughes says lasagna is a go-to dish she often cooks with her husband and young son to donate.
