MADISON, (WKOW) – Madison schools are taking steps to update their math curriculum in response to declining math proficiency.
The current math materials, adopted between 2015 and 2017, are outdated and no longer supported by vendors, prompting the district to consider new resources.
Becky Kundert, Senior Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction for MMSD talked about the main focus of this update.
"Our math proficiency has declined since COVID," said Kundert. "We had, prior to that, seen a steady progression and increase in our elementary schools. And then COVID impacted our schooling on a day-to-day basis."
