MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - The City of Madison has announced updates to the annual winter alternate side parking program.
On Tuesday, officials said they are reviewing the program to find ways to improve safety, efficiency and communication.
This winter, the rules have changed—enforcement will only start when the city’s Street Superintendent announces the first general plowing operation or declares a snow emergency. Officials reiterated that a “general plow” is when all streets in the city are plowed curb-to-curb.
When Alternate Side Parking rules take effect, the requirements will remain until March 15, 2026. Ticketing for violations, however, may be paused during “prolonged periods without snow or ice.”
