Police have upgraded charges against a suspect related to the fatal assault of a 55-year-old man to manslaughter after an autopsy revealed head trauma as the cause of death.
Police were called at roughly 2:20 a.m. on Oct.19 to an assault near 109 Street and 100 Avenue, the Edmonton Police Service said in a news release.
When they arrived, officers found Arvi Singh Sagoo, 55, unconscious and emergency medical services transported him to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Sagoo died from his injuries on Oct. 24. The Edmonton medical examiner conducted an autopsy on Oct. 28 and found Sagoo died of head trauma.
Police arrested Kyle Papin, 40, in relation to the case before Sagoo’s death and charged him with aggravated assault. The charge has now been upgraded to manslaughter.
