FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - Students and staff at Abbett Elementary School came together Wednesday for a ceremony, marking the school’s seventy-fifth anniversary.
Mayor Sharon Tucker proclaimed the day Merle J. Abbett Elementary School Day, and Fort Wayne City Councilwoman Rohli Booker presented and read the proclamation.
Abbett Elementary School teacher Mike Flohr said he is proud to look back on their school’s history, while getting to inspire the next generation of Abbett students.
“We can take this group of kiddos who doesn’t know a lot about the 1950s but they know a lot about 2025. It’s the first year for them and so now they can look back on this day in 25 years and say, ‘Oh I was the first person in that new class’, the new generation of Abbett Students. “ Mike Flohr
