BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WBRC ) - A Jefferson County judge denied motions Wednesday to suppress police interviews with two suspects charged in the kidnapping and beating death of 20-year-old Mahogany Jackson.

Brandon Pope and Airana Robinson, two of eight suspects charged with capital murder in Jackson’s death, appeared in court as their defense teams sought to exclude their statements to investigators.

Pope’s attorneys argued his statement should be excluded because of issues with how investigators read his Miranda rights. Robinson’s attorneys claimed she was coerced and too fatigued to give a proper statement.
