BRIGHTON, Ala. ( WBRC ) - Brighton city leaders are working to address illegal dumping sites across the city after discovering trash being left in their area.

Councilor Lester Milligan said he was investigating illegal dumping reports on Wednesday afternoon when he discovered a new pile of trash.

“I was just enraged that someone was so bold in broad daylight to dump all this trash out here,” Milligan said.

Milligan believes most of the trash isn’t coming from Brighton residents. He found mail from Birmingham and Bessemer in one of the piles near downtown.

“The mail was from Birmingham and Bessemer, not even Brighton. Because I know these people didn’t put us in office to make this a dumping ground,” Milligan said.
