PHOENIX — Deer Valley Unified School District is hoping that the third time's the charm when it comes to voters approving additional education funding.

The district's $33 million request to pay for full-day kindergarten, teacher pay, and maintaining class sizes was leading on Election Day after voters rejected extra funding requests the past two years.

The funding will come from property taxes, and it will cost a typical homeowner $248 a year, according to the district. The district encompasses parts of North Phoenix, Glendale, Peoria, Cave Creek, Anthem, and New River in northern Maricopa County.
