YAZOO COUNTY, Miss. (WLBT) - All residents of Yazoo City are being asked to shelter in place after an explosion at an ammonia plant in the county.
The incident occurred around 4:25 p.m. Wednesday at C.F. Industries on U.S. 49 East.
Nearby residents and businesses, including Walmart, have been instructed to evacuate.
The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency is also urging residents in the Renshaw and Generette Road areas to leave their homes while crews deal with the incident.
Wednesday afternoon, the American Red Cross announced it had opened a “reception center” to support residents impacted by the incident.
