GAUTIER, Miss. (WLOX) - For 26 years, Gautier High School has come together to celebrate those who served the country at its Veterans Breakfast Celebration.
Over 400 veterans filled the gymnasium, joined by nearly 900 students, for a morning of remembrance, gratitude, and community.
“We have those freedoms because people were willing to serve their country, be apart from their families, perhaps serve abroad. And so it’s just important for us to thank them, to recognize them, and it means so much to the veterans,” said Susie Bounds, event founder.
Students connect with service members
The ceremony gives students a chance to connect directly with those who served, hearing firsthand accounts and lessons that go beyond the classroom, especially those considering a future in service.
