ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. —
Bernalillo County voters approved nearly a dozen bonds on Tuesday, including a $350 million bond focused on enhancing public schools in Albuquerque. More than $40 million from this bond will be allocated to improving schools' cooling systems, while nearly $70 million will support various facility projects.
"The biggest part is building classroom blocks at 14 schools that have been stalled because of construction inflation," Kizito Wijenje, executive director for APS' Capital Master Plan, said in an interview with Target 7 earlier this year. The cost for these improvements is estimated to be around $173 million. Wijenje emphasized the importance of these upgrades, stating, "It's very important because of the conditions of which our teachers and students are learning
