ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. —

The Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office has concluded Operation "Bosque Guardian," a multi-month initiative that was launched this summer to address fires, crimes, and encampments in the Bosque Open Space.

Over the course of the operation:

642 individual contacts were made

42 unauthorized camps were cleared

8,468 pounds (4.2 tons) of trash and debris were removed

13 drone flights assisted with aerial mapping and safety checks

2 arrests were made related to criminal activity in the area

Multiple behavioral health contacts were established, with individuals offered services for shelter, identification assistance, and mental-health support
