Sydney Swans’ AFLW season has ended in chaos with coach Scott Gowans departing the club in the aftermath of a nightmare finish to the year.
In Sydney’s final game of the season they managed just 11 points and lost to lowly Essendon , blowing their chance of qualifying for a maiden finals campaign.
They started the year brightly, flying to four straight wins.
But things dramatically changed and they ended up losing six games out of their final eight, finish in ninth spot, just percentage outside the eight, with their superstar captain Chloe Molloy injured and watching on from the sidelines .
Gowans still had two years remaining on his contract but the Swans say he “made the difficult decision” to part ways with the club and “seek other opportunities”.
