HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) -- The Evansville Police Officer shot in the line of duty back in September is giving an update on his condition.

Officer Sam Taylor took to social media to thank those who reached out to him, sent cards and donated to his fundraisers.

"The support has been absolutely unreal and motivating for me and I can't thank everyone enough," Taylor said.

Taylor says he suffered a T3 spinal cord injury, meaning he does not have feeling or mobility from the chest down.

"I am still very early in my healing process so there is hope that sensation and movement can return. My injury is definitely life-changing but with all things considered, I'm happy to still be here for my family and community," Taylor said.

Taylor will be receiving care in Atlanta until January.
