YOUNGSTOWN An organization aimed at helping residents in the Mahoning Valley gave away free meals to those in need on Wednesday.

Residents were invited to join Thrive Mahoning Valley, located at 854 Wilson Avenue in Youngstown, for a free meal.

Wednesday's food giveaway was sponsored by Jimmy's Italian Specialties in Youngstown, and the salads were provided by West 34, also in Youngstown.

Since the launch of the "ThriveThru" food assistance initiative in May of 2025, the program has provided more than 400 free meals to Youngstown's east side.

According to Executive Director Christopher Colon of Thrive Mahoning Valley, 100 meals were expected to be given away during Wednesday's event.
