Suicide rates and poor mental health among young Scots are a national tragedy. ‌

Recent figures show that more than one in four deaths among young Scots are by probable suicide . Parents are losing their sons and daughters but many of these deaths are avoidable. ‌

Access to mental health services would provide vulnerable young people with a lifeline to cope with their anguish. Yet children are, in some cases waiting years to access this. ‌

This appalling situation is why the Record is today launching a powerful campaign to address these injustices. Save Young Lives is a call for politicians and parents across Scotland to do whatever it takes to tackle harm.

Who among us would not move Heaven and Earth to save the life of a young person? But together we can do so
