COLUMBUS, Ohio — A city inspector has declared the historic Kelton House Museum & Garden unsafe following a gas explosion and fire that caused extensive damage earlier this week.
The home, built in 1852 and once part of the Underground Railroad, sustained significant structural damage but does not appear to be in danger of collapse, according to the Columbus Department of Building and Zoning Services.
“Nobody wakes up in the morning expecting a portion of their building to have a catastrophic event or collapse,” Anthony Celebrezze, deputy director with the department, told 10TV on Wednesday.
