HATTON, N.D. (Valley News Live) - A fire at a grain elevator in Hatton is expected to burn through the night, according to the Traill County Sheriff’s Office.
The fire started at 3:00 p.m. at Anchor Ingredients in the 100 block of Railroad Avenue East, beginning in the wheat bins and producing heavy smoke.
Two wheat bins next to each other were affected by the blaze. The first wheat bin had a controlled collapse before the fire spread to the second wheat bin.
About 109 first responders from multiple agencies responded to the scene, including crews from Hillsboro Fire, Larimore Fire, Traill County Sheriff’s Office and Mayville Fire.
Water lines were tapped into during firefighting efforts, but the large volume of water being used unintentionally lowered the water level. Crews have been
