PLAINFIELD, Ind. — What looked like an ordinary flag football game at Plainfield High School carried a much deeper meaning.

Students, police officers and firefighters took the field Wednesday night for a friendly matchup that turned into a tribute to fallen Indiana State Police Trooper Aaron Smith who was killed during a chase in 2023 .

The game was organized by Club 361, a student organization founded by Cpl. Natalie Groth a year after Smith's death. Froth is a school resource officer at Plainfield High School. The club’s name comes from the trooper's radio number, 52-361, and reflects the three values he lived by.

"Three things that Trooper Aaron Smith really cared about were wellness, leadership and service," Groth said.
