LANSING TWP. — U.S. 127 in the Frandor area was closed for about 90 minutes on Wednesday, Nov. 5 after a crash caused powerlines to fall across the freeway, police said.

The crash happened about 1:30 p.m. when the driver of a northbund Lexus SUV tried to take the Saginaw Street exit and lost control, sending the vehicle airborne before it landed on Homer Street, Lansing Township police said.

The Lexus was struck by a Dodge Caliber after it landed.

The male driver of the Lexus ran from the scene and was still at large on Wednesday afternoon, township police Chief John Joseph said. A female passenger in the Lexus was taken to a hospital for evaluation, but no one else was injured, he said.

Both sides of U.S. 127 were closed until the downed power lines could be removed.
