Police officers have been attacked with fireworks overnight as as mobs of youths took to the streets of Birmingham .
Late on Wednesday night, West Midlands Police said four teenage boys had been arrested and taken into custody on suspicion of violent disorder. Police said they also seized weapons in response to officers being attacked in the Dale End area of the city.
West Midlands Police were granted new stop and search powers over 15 hours amid firework gang trouble. Officers were able to use Section 60 powers in parts of Birmingham from 3pm yesterday to 6am this morning.
