WINDSOR LOCKS, Conn. (WFSB) - The Federal Aviation Administration could cut capacity at 40 airports nationwide due to the ongoing government shutdown.
Starting Friday, the FAA will ground thousands of flights at 40 of the busiest airports in the country because of an air traffic controller shortage tied to the government shutdown.
Controllers are working without pay, which has led to an increase in sick calls.
The government shutdown has raised concerns about w idespread air travel disruptions across the country.
The FAA will limit air traffic at 40 major airports across the country, including airports in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Dallas, Boston, Atlanta, Washington D.C. and Houston.
