RIO RANCHO, N.M. —
The Rio Rancho Police Department will upgrade its vehicle-based automated speed enforcement cameras on Dec. 13, as part of the city’s Safe Traffic Operations Program.
The replacement is due to a phaseout of existing equipment.
Verra Mobility, the current third-party vendor, will continue to provide equipment, deployment and administrative support. Citations will remain $100.
Ten new units will be deployed on Rio Rancho-maintained roadways, with placement determined by police department speeding data and citizen requests.
A 45-day warning period will begin upon deployment, during which only warning citations will be issued for captured speed violations.
