North-East India | November 5, 2025 — Department of Cardiology at ILS Hospital, Agartala in the North-East has performed the region’s first dual-chamber leadless pacemaker procedure, bringing a new era of minimally invasive heart care closer to home. The patient, a 64-year-old man living with multiple critical heart problems and complete heart block (a condition where electrical signals don’t travel properly through the heart), is stable and recovering well.
Cardiologists chose a leadless pacemaker system because it avoids the long wires (“leads”) and chest-pocket used in traditional pacemakers. Instead, tiny self-contained capsules are placed inside the heart through a vein in the leg. I
