Authorities have identified the pedestrian killed in a hit-and-run in Copiague as a 69-year-old man from Massapequa Park.
Louis Lasusa was fatally struck while crossing Montauk Highway around 8:44 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 5, according to Suffolk County Police. He was walking northbound when a gray sedan heading westbound hit him in front of 1051 Montauk Highway, then fled the scene without stopping.
Lasusa was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Detectives with the Major Case Unit are continuing their investigation and are urging anyone with information to come forward. Tips can be submitted anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS or online at www.P3Tips.com. A reward of up to $5,000 may be available if the tip leads to an arrest.
