TAMPA, Fla. — Deputies in the Florida Keys are warning residents and visitors of fake money that is circulating in the area.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office posted on Facebook that they have received reports of counterfeit money used in films and movies that are going around, notably in the Lower Keys and Key West.

The $100 bills are marked as fake as they state "for motion picture purposes" and "this is not a legal tender" on the front. But deputies warn they may look accurate at a casual glance.

The post stated that Key West police also issued a similar warning recently about fake $20 bills.

Deputies advise checking any bills you use or receive.
