JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Family and friends are grieving after a father of four was shot and killed in Mandarin Monday evening. According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, 43-year-old Stephen Shahly was discovered dead inside a garage on Rustic Green Court. Officers had been called to the area due to reports of gunfire around 5:30 p.m. Monday.
JSO announced Tuesday evening that it arrested 44-year-old Donald Rentfrow Jr. for the shooting. He was taken into custody Tuesday morning as investigators and SWAT conducted a search warrant at his home, JSO said, and quickly booked into the Duval County jail.
Shahly's soon-to-be brother-in-law rushed to the scene as soon as he heard about the shooting.
