West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday dismissed reports claiming she had accepted the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) form, a voter list verification document, from a Booth Level Officer (BLO). She asserted that she would not fill the form until every person in Bengal has done so.
In a Facebook post, Banerjee clarified:
“BLOs came to our Kalighat area on Wednesday and distributed SIR forms to some people. They also visited my office within the house to inquire about the number of voters on the premises. However, several media outlets reported that I came out of my house and personally received the SIR form. This is completely false, misleading, and deliberately propagated. I have not filled any form. Until every Bengali fills it, I will not do so either.”
