MAPLE HEIGHTS, Ohio — A man was killed and a woman injured in a home invasion Wednesday night in Maple Heights , police said.

Officers responded around 9:44 p.m. to a home in the 21400 block of Libby Road for a report of a woman who had been shot in the hand. When officers arrived, they found both a man and a woman suffering from gunshot wounds.

Investigators said the victims were shot during a robbery inside the residence. The woman was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center for treatment, while the man was transported to Cleveland Clinic - South Pointe Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

“My God, I’m so shocked. We’ve never had any trouble around here," said Sheryl Union, who lives nearby. "I'm just shaking, I'm literally shaking from this."
