An Upper Peninsula woman has pleaded guilty to defrauding Medicaid of about $8,000 in 2022, state officials said.

Nicole Stouffer, 44, pleaded guilty Tuesday to two counts of felony Medicaid Fraud as a habitual second offender in Delta County Circuit Court in Escanaba, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel said in a statement.

In exchange for the Rock residents' guilty plea, prosecutors dismissed seven other charges.

Stouffer is scheduled to be sentenced on Dec. 16 and faces up to six years in prison for each count.

Her attorney, Michael Norman, was not immediately available for comment on Thursday.
