CRAVEN COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - Troopers say no charges are expected in a crash yesterday, where the driver of a broken-down car was killed just outside of New Bern.
The crash happened around 7:40 p.m. on the Twin Span Bridge at U.S. 70 and U.S. 17.
Troopers say a car had become disabled because of a flat tire and was stopped in the far right lane, not on the shoulder.
Vicki Wallace, the driver of the disabled car, was standing behind her car when a pickup truck merged onto U.S. 70 and hit the woman and her car, according to troopers. The 54-year-old woman was pinned between the two vehicles.
The Highway Patrol says the other driver had serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
