DALLAS — In the hours after the Dallas Cowboys announced the death of defensive end Marshawn Kneeland , messages of grief and sympathy poured out from Dallas and the NFL.

According to the team, Kneeland, 24, died on the morning of Nov. 6. The circumstances surronding his death are still unknown.

He was drafted by the Cowboys in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft from Western Michigan University. Less than a week before his death, he recovered a blocked punt in the end zone for a touchdown in the Cowboys' 27-17 loss to Arizona .
