Emporia High School softball pitcher Alivia Barrett signed a letter of intent Wednesday to play for Allen Community College next year.

“This is a big day for Alivia and her family,” said Emporia softball coach Tommy McClure in a text message. “When I started here, I knew she was meant to play at the next level. Alivia is a great kid to be around. She works hard. Has a great support group. Faith. And gives back to her community and the young girls striving to be the next Liv! Allen County is getting a pretty special kid who comes around very few times. I am very proud of her.”

The senior Spartan was a Centennial League First-Team selection last season. Barrett manned the circle well for her squad, despite a 10-16 record.
