On the third floor of the Lyon County History Center, Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly conducted the sixth stop of “The People’s Budget Listening Tour,” dropping by eight cities across the state to speak on the work her administration has done to stabilize the state’s financial health and listen to questions from her constituents on what budgetary items their communities are concerned about.
Gov. Kelly answered questions related to rural health care, housing, transportation and more. She said the most frequently mentioned issue, both in Emporia and across the state, has been education.
“Our K-12 system is the number one issue all across Kansas,” Gov. Kelly said, “and I'm glad to say that we've been fully funding our public schools for the last seven years.”
