When U.S. President Donald Trump claimed that the Ontario government had put out a fake ad, he was onto something — but he picked on the wrong ad.
Trump attacked the accurate ad replaying the words of former Republican president Ronald Reagan denouncing tariffs that ran during the World Series. But Blue Jays fans who were watching also couldn’t have missed the endless repetitions of a cheery, upbeat Ontario government commercial advertising the importance of mining in the so-called Ring of Fire. It shows people in hard hats working in a construction shack and a mine — as if this mining area was actually in operation.
