CLANTON, Ala. ( WBRC ) - Clanton Police Department’s four-legged officers will now be better protected thanks to a donation.

Clanton Police say their three K-9s, Goose, Kaine and Trotter, will receive bullet and stab protective vests from the non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc .

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. is a national charity whose mission is “to provide bullet and stab protection vests and other assistance to dogs of law enforcement and related agencies…”

According to the non-profit’s website, the body armor is potentially life-saving for department’s four-legged officers. It is U.S. made, custom fitted and National Institute of Justice (NIJ) certified.

Per Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., the charity has provided over 6,000 vests, valued at $6.9 million to K9s
