EAST GREENWICH, R.I. (WPRI) — An East Greenwich man was charged with DUI after a crash involving a tractor-trailer Wednesday night, according to police.
Officers responded to the crash on Frenchtown Road around 9:15 p.m. and found a semi-truck stopped in the inside westbound lane with its hazard lights flashing. A gray Audi was heavily damaged and stopped in the outside lane.
Police said the only person in the Audi was Christopher Johnson, 69, who was found sitting in the passenger seat. Johnson initially told the officers he had moved because someone instructed him to, but firefighters on scene said they did not tell him to switch seats. The truck driver also reported seeing Johnson climb from the driver's seat, according to the police report.
