Electric bicycles and scooters are a common sight in Reno, from downtown and the university to neighborhoods across the city.
Though e-bikes and e-scooters can be a convenient way to get around certain parts of the city without a car, they can be dangerous if not ridden correctly.
There have been 56 reported crashes involving an e-bike or e-scooter in 2025 so far, the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office told the Reno Gazette Journal on Oct. 30.
The statistic is countywide, not limited to calls the sheriff’s office has handled. Sgt. Kristin Vietti explained that though 56 incidents may seem like a small number, many more likely go unreported, are handled by other responders such as medical teams or occur off roadways.
