Alaska ranks near the bottom among U.S. states for job opportunities, according to WalletHub’s 2025 Best States for Jobs report. The study evaluates states across 34 key indicators, including employment growth, unemployment rate, median income, and job security, to measure overall job-market strength and economic environment.
In the 2025 rankings, Alaska ranked 48th in the ‘job-market’ strength and 30th in ‘economic environment,’ resulting in one of the lowest overall scores among the 50 states.
Nationally, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Minnesota topped the list as the best states for employment conditions, while West Virginia, Louisiana, and Kentucky ranked at the bottom.
