Montreal transit pass sales have shrunk to under half of the usual level so far this month, as two STM worker strikes have significantly cut back the agency’s service offerings.
Just shy of 101,000 commuters bought November Zone A transit passes as of Tuesday, according to figures The Gazette obtained from the regional transit authority (ARTM). Zone A passes cover trips by all modes of transit on the island of Montreal.
November’s sales are a decrease of more than half from the roughly 231,000 passes sold by the same date — Nov. 4 — in 2024. By the end of November 2024, about 303,000 monthly passes had been sold.
Monthly Zone A passes cost $104.50 at full price, while reduced-price passes for youth, students and seniors go for $62.75.
This month, two separate STM strikes have coincided
